Belinda Asafo-Agyel is a renowned Clinical Trichologist and Hair Care Specialist with over 30 years of experience in the hairdressing industry. As the founder of Bel’s Beauty, Belinda combines her extensive knowledge and passion for hair health to provide expert solutions to clients struggling with hair loss and scalp issues and those wishing to maintain their hair and scalp health in the best condition.
Originally from Ghana, Belinda’s journey began with a deep-rooted obsession for hair from childhood. She always dreamed of working with hair and never wavered in her passion, even when her family and community dismissed her dream for not being a worthy career path. Hairdressing and hair care were not seen as a respectable profession in Ghana, and she was often looked down upon.
Her determination led her to pursue an apprenticeship in hairdressing, where she honed her skills and developed a profound understanding of hair care.
Upon moving to the UK, Belinda’s career flourished as she quickly established herself as a skilled and respected hairdresser.
Belinda’s quest for knowledge thanks to support from her husband, Rev Herman Asafo-Agyei to pursue her dream career led her to further her education, culminating in her becoming a qualified Trichologist. This achievement, supported by her husband’s unwavering belief in her potential, allowed her to elevate her practice and offer specialised care for hair and scalp conditions. Her expertise has earned her a place among leading professionals, often collaborating with dermatologists, surgeons, and GPs.
In addition to this, Belinda is the author of the unique and informative book “Time to Think Hair Health,” which is available on Amazon. The book is a comprehensive guide on hair loss and health, reflecting her commitment to educating and empowering individuals.
Belinda’s impact extends beyond her practice. She actively participates in community outreach, sharing her knowledge in the media and within her community to raise awareness about hair health. Her story of resilience and success serves as a beacon of hope for many, challenging cultural stereotypes and advocating for following a profession that is pursued by passion rather than perceived gains such as a prestigious title.
She also runs a non-profit charity supporting individuals with hair loss. Her dedication to continuous learning and improvement ensures that she provides the best possible care for her clients and stays at the forefront of trichology. Belinda thrives on helping her clients regain confidence and achieve healthy, beautiful hair. Her compassionate approach and extensive expertise make her a trusted and respected figure in the hair care industry.
Alongside supporting her staff and serving her clients at her clinic based in West London Belinda is also a leading expert and speaker in the field of trichology and trains professionals on how to cane row without causing damage to the scalp or hair loss.
Belinda speaks at a wide variety of events, schools, churches and mosques. She advises the media, hairdressers, professionals, and trainees on a diverse range of topics concerning overall mental and physical health and its impact on hair and scalp health, and on how to support scalp and hair health.
In her personal life, Belinda is a devoted wife and mother to three beautiful girls. In her spare time, she loves to sing, support her church and community and continue to learn, as every day is a school day for Belinda.
As a Certified Trichologist, Belinda specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of Hair & Scalp Disorders, such as Female and Male Pattern Hair Loss, Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (which predominantly affects Black women), Traction Alopecia, Seborrhoeic Dermatitis, Telogen Effluvium, Alopecia Areata and a vast array of other conditions.
